Nippon Gakki No. 20, Painted Grand

Yamaha

The plate reads Nippon Gakki S.K.K., the name the house in Hamamatsu carried long before the word Yamaha was written on a fallboard. Instruments from that period do not come through Lebanon often.

The lid is painted by hand: a valley, a sky, and a line of trees that you only see when the piano is open and playing. Whoever commissioned it wanted the room to look at something while it listened.

The case is walnut, the legs are turned, and the whole instrument has been prepared in our atelier. It is a collector's piece that still works for a living. Enquire and we will tell you what we know of its history.
