A 1930s Steinway art case, its gold leaf dulled and its action worn silent, arrived at the atelier as a piece of furniture. It left as a concert instrument.
The carving was cleaned and repaired by hand; the gold leaf re-laid where it had lifted; the action rebuilt with new hammers and full regulation. The finish work alone took four months.
